‘Being The Captain’
There’s no doubt about it we are all on a journey in life and like the sea, life can be unpredictable.
Sometimes life is beautiful…. Sometimes it’s a shit-storm. That’s just the way it is.
So what’s The Captains Log all about?
The Captains Log is about the journey toward ‘Being The Captain‘ of your story. Being the captain is about knowing who you are, the path that you’re on and your strategy for getting there.
It’s about true freedom and it’s about learning how to ride the wave of resistance and reward, with a smile on your face.
Knowing Who You Are Is THE Question.
This is the primary and most fundamental aspect of this blog. They’ve been telling us for thousands of years to “Know Thyself” and for thousands of years the vast majority have ignored it.
Far from being an esoteric topic obscured by archaic religious language, I believe it can be discovered by anyone willing to strive for it.
Knowing the true nature of who you are is an inward journey and one that is essential for the well-being of everyone.
It’s a journey that’s waiting to be started, hidden beneath the surface of our external reality, just waiting for us to give it some attention.
“We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.” ~ Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
To know this to be true, beyond all doubt, is to know who we are at the core… is to ‘Know Thyself’ … is to Be The Captain.
The Path — Direction In Life
Every journey needs some direction and to know what path to take in life, you must know what matters most to you.
An inner Compass to help guide you through life and give you the direction and focus needed to fulfil your potential and be the best you can be.
“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” ~ Howard Thurman
Your Strategy Is Your Plan
And without a concrete plan your dead in the water.
Every Captain needs a plan… a road Map of measurable milestones to track your progress.
Morning routines, habits, goals and affirmations are some of the tools at our disposal for ensuring we don’t drift into a life of mediocrity.
To Sum It All Up…
Being the captain is a journey toward finding balance in life, between being productive and just ‘being’; between hitting goals and being happy with the ‘here and now’.
Working toward these ideals is my mission in life and the reason I created The Captain’s Log.
Gandhi said “Be the change…” I’d also like to add “Be The Captain!”
